The Solarpunk Movement
Have you heard of it?
A social movement founded in matriarchy that’s core principals are nature, community and anti-capitalism……This is important.
I first started hearing about this movement shortly after parts of the Epstein files were released. It feels like the fall of the patriarchy and the rise of solarpunk are aligned. Though it’s not new, the solarpunk movement started in 2008, this powerful idea has seemed to gained more attention in the last few months.
Solarpunk is the idea that the future could involve renewable energy sources, technology that helped heal the planet instead of destroy it, a call back to community and local commerce and social equality. These reflect (not coincidentally) the core principals of matriarchy. Not only is it exciting to see this gain popularity on social media, but it’s exciting to see women in STEM, the intuitive world, feminists, anthropologists and beyond all backing this idea.
What if it could all be different? What if instead of having AI destroy the Earth, we could create advanced technology that could save it. What if that same technology could better the lives of EVERYONE. What if we insisted that artists, writers, etc had their work protected?
What if we lived outside of capitalism? What could that look like? There would of course still be commerce but what if it wasn’t an evil overlord that forced you to work your life away? What if you the library system you know and love for books, was adopted for many other resources?
All of these questions are posed through this movement and brilliant minds are answering. And beyond questions, artists and writers are being called upon to create mediums where we could imagine it happening.
So tell me, have you heard of solarpunk? Has it crossed into your awareness yet or is this your first introduction?
If you’d like to learn more, we covered it all for you on the podcast. Just go to The Intuitive Girls Guide wherever you listen to podcasts. Part 1 came out this week and part 2 will come out on April 27th.
I’d love to know what you think and how you learned about it!
Stay punk,
H
